The Council has the power to award licences for the exhibition or training of a performing animal.
It is an offence for anyone to train or exhibit a performing animal unless they are registered to do so under the Performing Animals (Regulation) Act 1925. The Act is designed to cover the use of animals in stage performances, at circuses, as part of exhibition and so on. It is an offence if any person exhibits or trains any performing animal or does so in a manner with respect to which he is not registered.
