All savings, investments, shares or property that you own other than the property you live in will count as capital.
Is any capital ignored?
- If you are under 60 any capital less than £6,000 is ignored.
- If you are over 60 any capital under £6,000 is ignored.
How do you calculate income from capital?
We do not take into account the actual interest you get on any savings you have; instead we calculate based on the amount of capital.
