Office Energy Efficiency

    Always turn your computer off!Computer
  • Always turn your computer off when it is not in use, or at least turn off the monitor as it uses about half of the electricity of the PC set up.
  • Buy an environmentally friendly computer.
    Always use recycled paper!Printing
  • Think before you print, do you really need a paper copy of that document? Try to read and document electronically as much as possible instead.
  • Shrink your printings, e.g. two sides on every side of the paper or at least always print double sided.
  • Always use recycled paper.
Remember to turn off the lights!Lighting
  • Change all light bulbs to low energy-saving ones, they last 7-10 times longer and only use 25% of the electricity that the old ones use.
  • Install motion light sensors so that the light is only on when someone is in the room.
  • If you don’t have any sensors remember to switch off the light when you are not at your desk and when you are leaving the office.
    RecycleRecycle
  • Reduce the waste as much as possible and reuse that which is possible and recycle everything else.

  • By recycling IT equipment you can help both local and international charities depending on your choice, a great way of getting free promotion. There are many companies out there that can help you get rid of your IT equipment in an environmentally friendly way, some even offer their services for free.
  • Recycle the printer cartridges. There are several companies that collect your empty cartridges for free.
    Batteries
  • Buy a battery charger as you will save lots of money and energy when you charge your batteries instead of buying new ones.
  • Batteries are hazardous for the environment and should always be recycled.
  • Remember to disconnect the charger (both battery and mobile phone battery) when not in use as it continues to use energy even when charging is completed.
