The Animal Welfare Service and Countrycare would like you assistance in promoting the welfare of our native reptiles and amphibians and to encourage residents to make them welcome in their gardens. The first prize in both age groups are light weight binoculars and second prize are a Pond Dipping Kit.
From May to September 2009 we are asking members of the public to survey their gardens and tell us what wildlife they find. From the information gathered we hope to gain a better understanding of the important role gardens are playing for wildlife, specifically amphibians and reptiles. The data will be made publicly available on the EFDC Countrycare website (except your personal details) and shared with other organisations unless you ask us not to do this. The form can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of the page.
We would like 5 to 9 year olds to colour in the below illustration of a garden pond. Within the illustration there will be 4 animals for you to find and identify.

Your artwork should be no larger than A4 and be as informative as possible, describing the animals, their habitats, and their role in our environment, giving advice on how to encourage them to live in safety within our gardens.
Send your entries to The Animal Welfare Service, Epping Forest District Council, Civic Offices, High Street, Epping, Essex CM16 4BZ together with your name address telephone number and age. Mark your envelope “Wildlife Competition.”
