The Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 allows Local Authorities to provide grants to private sector house owners and occupiers. The council’s current grant policy takes into account the mandatory requirement to provide disabled facilities grants to all those who qualify and prioritises the allocation of discretionary renovation grants and home repairs assistance.
The Care and Repair Agency (CARE) exist to help elderly and vulnerable home owners to carry out repairs to their homes.
