Consultation on the 2010 Housing Allocations Scheme
Our Housing Allocations Scheme sets out the process we use for allocating vacant properties to homeseekers on our Housing Register. It also explains how we decide who must have priority. Every year we take a fresh look at the Scheme and update it, taking into account any changes in law or council policies. In January 2010 the Government issued new guidance on social housing allocations called "Fair and Flexible". This includes a number of new conditions. One of the new requirements is that we must now consult all housing applicants on the proposed changes and we would welcome your comments.
We are in the process of updating the scheme, to meet the guidance and make relevant changes, but we need the opinions of all residents before the changes are agreed by our Cabinet in October 2010.
