If you are the owner of an empty home you could get £1,000 to help you bring the property back into useLandlords and agents with properties available for rent will usually ask for at least one month's rent in advance, and the same amount again as a deposit. Many people on benefits, or low incomes, cannot afford to pay this amount of money to enter into a tenancy agreement. The £1,000 premium is NOT a deposit or rent in advance. It is up to you to decide how to spend this money. We will pay you the first £250 at the start of the tenancy, the remaining balance at the end.
The Finders Fee scheme has been introduced as part of our Empty Property Strategy. It offers an incentive to owners of empty properties to bring their properties back into use. At the same time it helps to provide valuable accommodation for families that would otherwise be homeless. We are particularly interested in family type accommodation of 2 and 3 bedroom properties. They can be furnished or unfurnished, but they must have been empty for six months or more.
Each dwelling that stands empty is a wasted resource. By helping landlords bring their empty homes back into use we can help meet the demand for housing in Epping Forest District.
