Our Local Offer

Our "local offer" sets out the Council's housing commitments to its tenants. It explains how we will deliver our housing services over the forthcoming year - and is based on the standards that tenants expect to receive.

From 1st April 2012, the regulation of council housing and housing associations is being delivered by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), its members independently appointed by the Government. All registered housing providers are subject to a regulatory framework and must meet certain national standards.

Our local offer helps us to check that we meet the national standards, and our own. For example, how we:
  -  consult with tenants
  -  repair and maintain their homes
  -  manage their neighbourhoods
  -  allocate properties, and
  -  ensure that value for money is obtained in providing housing services.

Our local offer has been agreed with the Tenants and Leaseholders Federation and details have been included in our Annual Report to Tenants. It covers all of the District's council housing and has three parts.

Epping Forest District Council's local offer to tenants includes:

1.  The Housing Charter

The 'Housing Charter' sets out our approach to providing housing services to the Council's tenants and leaseholders, private occupiers, housing applicants and homeless people. Click here to view the Housing Charter.

2.  Our Housing Service Standards

Our 'Housing Service Standards' set out in details what the Council will do in order to meet the national standards. They also give full details of all the services that residents can expect in areas not covered by the HCA's regulations, such as private sector housing and the Right to Buy. Click here to view our Housing Service Standards.

3.  A Tenant-Agreed Action Plan

The 'Tenant-Agreed Action Plan' sets out a number of agreed tasks for the next year. We will monitor our progress against these tasks and report on our progress to the Tenants and Leaseholders Federation. Click here to view the Tenant-Agreed Action Plan.
