Tenant participation is about giving choices and encouraging tenants to have a say in how their homes are managed.
The Epping Forest Tenants and Leaseholders Federation has a District-wide Tenant Participation Agreement with the Council. It sets out how the Council and the Federation work together to promote tenant participation throughout the district, and involve people in the management of their housing service. Many tenants are already involved in this process in some way. Some have joined their local residents group, and may represent their group on the Federation. Others attend meetings, take part in community events or panels, or give their views by completing surveys. It's the tenant's choice - and the Agreement reflects the variety of ways in which people like to get involved.
The Tenant Participation Impact Statement shows many tangible examples of how tenant involvement has made a difference at different levels; to policy, on estates and in neighbourhoods, and to individual residents.
We publish a newsletter called 'Tenants Voice' which includes news from the Tenants and Leasholders Federation. The Spring 2011 edition includes a tenant-agreed action plan listing 16 actions (or improvements) for the current year. Click here to view the latest Tenants Voice.
There are many ways for Council’s tenants and leaseholders to get involved. Richard Jones is our Tenant Participation Officer and his role is to encourage and support them. You can email Richard at: involvetenants@eppingforestdc.gov.uk
