Car park charges apply between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday in short stay car parks, Monday to Friday in long and combined stay car parks excluding Public Holidays.
Charges do not apply on Sundays and charges do not apply on Saturdays in the month of December only.
When using any of the Councils’ pay and display car parks, it is requirement that a ticket, for the required period of parking, is purchased immediately after the vehicle has been parked.
All of the Councils’ pay and display machines accept the following coin denominations: 5p; 10p; 20p; 50p; £1; and £2. The machines do not give change but will accept an overpayment if the exact tariff in change is not available.
Motorists who do not have sufficient change to purchase a ticket from the pay and display machine are advised NOT to leave their vehicle in the car park.
At both of the public car parks that are adjacent to a Sainsbury’s store in Old Station Road, Loughton and Bansons Lane, Ongar there is a refund scheme available for shoppers spending £5 or more (excluding kiosk purchases) in Sainsbury’s.
The pay and display tickets in these car parks come in 2 parts. One part should be displayed as normal on the vehicle windscreen or dashboard, whilst the other part should be presented to the Sainsbury’s cashier for a refund of the parking fee of ‘Up to 2 hours’ parking.
A number of bays in each car park are set aside specifically for the exclusive use of people (vehicle driver or passenger) who hold a registered disabled persons badge (a Blue Badge).
Use of these bays is free of charge for any period of each day providing that a valid registered disabled persons badge is clearly displayed on the dashboard of the vehicle with the expiry date and serial number clearly on view to anyone outside the vehicle.
Monthly, Quarterly and Annual season tickets are available in all car parks except the Civic Offices and Old Station Road (Sainsburys). Whilst the cost is less than the cumulative total of the normal daily car park charge for the period of the season ticket, spaces are NOT guaranteed.
