Staples Road, Loughton

Staples Road comprises an attractive, linear group of houses and a school on the edge of Epping Forest.  With a few exceptions, all the buildings in the Conservation Area were built in the last three decades of the 19th century. Some buildings are of architectural and historic interest (e.g. the County Primary School and No.3 Staples Road - Shaftesbury Retreat), although none are listed.

Most of the houses retain their original exterior features, such as sliding sash windows, front doors, slate roofs and brick detailing.
