Bobbingworth Tip August 2009

At the end of August 2009 the final phase of surface preparation is nearing completion. The surface looks very barren, but has now been fully “stone picked” in readiness for the sowing of a meadow grass seed mixture in September.

Into the future the aim will be to create a 6 hecare herb rich meadow over the central core of the site. This will be done by importing “green hay” from existing local species rich meadow sites such as Matching Green and the special roadside verges.

With the loss of so many grassland sites Bobbingworth offers an ideal opportunity to redress the balance and hopefully establish a range of rare and threatened plants.
