
Works have been completed on the network of marsh (pictured below) , ponds (pictured above) and ditches which are fed by the pumping of a constant supply of clean water. This water comes from intercepted surface ground water, which is not needed to enter the tip itself. This means even in the driest of weather these areas will stay wet. Already many dragonflies and wetland loving birds like Snipe have moved in.

Above: Construction of a slow worm holding pen, which will house 150 slow worms moved from a development site in Ongar. Within the area is a hibernaculm and specially contstructed compost heap. Once the grass sward has established late next year the compound will be opened up.
