The Epping Forest Biodiversity Partnership was formed in April 2006 with the goal of producing and implementing a biodiversity action plan for the Epping Forest District.
The process has been led by Epping Forest District Council, but the partnership which now exists has brought together a range of conservation bodies (statutory and voluntary) from across the district. In October 2007 the partnership produced a consultation draft BAP which was distributed to neighbouring Council’s, Parish and Town Councils, local groups, Non Government Organisations and Government agencies. It was ratified in March 2008 by Epping Forest District Members.
Aims and objectives of the partnership - Despite the fact Epping Forest District Council have led on the local BAP process to date the key to the success of the partnership will be empowerment of everyone involved. It is hoped all partners wil join in the process and pick up elements of the Action Plan. Partnership meetings will be a vital element of seeing that the objectives of the plan were being met and for the sharing of ideas and good practice. It is hoped that all partner organisations would be able benefit from the Epping Forest BAP process. And those partners would be able to use the BAP to raise the profile of their own organisations and use the BAP to their advantage e.g. external funding. Also by all working together the cause of biodiversity could be highlighted more effectively. It was vital it “our” BAP was linked to the Essex BAP and it is hoped to the Epping Forest Local Strategic Partnership Group “Green and Unique Group”

Frequency of Meetings - The partnership meets three times a year in February, June and October.
Invitees – Below is a list of the current membership of the partnership. It is hoped going forward that this can be expanded with an open invite to others to join. Currently there are few specific interest groups which are fully involved e.g. Essex Amphibian and Reptile Group, Badger Groups etc. This may be a reflection of the action plan as it was not species specific currently.
