Views of Norton Heath Common February 2009

Above: Oak trees growing amongst the numerous ponds on the heath, created when the common was extensively used for gravel extraction between 1910 and 1920. The ponds are very ephemeral and are very much linked to the water le. By mid summer most are dry.
