In November 2000 Countrycare was successful with a £8,200 grant application to the Essex Environment Trust (£3,200) and English Nature (£5,000) for a major access and interpretation project at Linder’s Field.
The first phase of the project was completed in May 2001 and involved the creation of a new 200m hardened pathway leading onto the field with a viewing platform at the end.

The second phase of the project was the creation of a new decorative gateway for the nature reserve to replace the existing dilapidated white gates. In August 2001, Suffolk based sculptor Paul Richardson, was commissioned by Countrycare to create the new gateway.
In April 2002 the resulting spectacular gates were installed. Constructed from steel the decorative designs reflected all the plants and animals to be found in Linder’s Field. I am sure Leslie Linder with his connections to Beatrix Potter would have approved.
