Epping Forest District Council has commissioned a team led by Urban Practitioners (comprising urban regeneration, transport and property expertise) to prepare a vision for Debden. This work looks at The Broadway and the surrounding area and sets out an exciting plan for the future. The draft report was presented to Cabinet on 14 April 2008 and was approved for public consultation (click here for the agenda and minutes of this meeting)
The consultation period ran from Monday 23 June 2008 and closed at noon on Friday 18 July 2008.
Debden is a strong community and The Broadway area is a great local asset with a good mix of local shops and services. We want to be sure that the area continues to thrive and grow successfully, and this Vision includes a set of realistic projects to improve The Broadway for everyone.

The Vision identifies eleven key themes for Debden, and a series of opportunities for building and public space projects. These building projects won’t all happen at once and some could take longer than others. However, we hope that several of the key projects, including the redevelopment of the Sainsbury site could happen over the next couple of years and provide momentum for other projects to follow.
Whilst this project includes the area covered by The Broadway town centre enhancement this is a separate project.
The consultation period for this project started on Monday 23 June 2008 and ended at noon on Friday 18 July 2008.
ExhibitionWhen we are not using the exhibition for events or meetings it will be on display in 31 The Broadway during normal business hours (Monday to Friday).
The project team will be out on The Broadway with the exhibition on Thursday 10 July 2008. Please come and visit us to discuss the proposals.
The project team will be at the tube station in July to meet commuters and discuss the scheme (date to be confirmed).
A special meeting is being planned for the Town Centre Partnership, shop keepers and businesses based on The Broadway, please contact the project team on the details below if you would like more information.
