Epping Forest District Council’s comprehensive District-wide Local Plan was adopted in 1998; and Alterations to this Plan have now been prepared. These Alterations update the policies in the Plan that require modification due to changes in policy (at all levels) or because the original Local Plan policy simply no longer applies or is no longer necessary.
The Local Plan Alterations have been through several stages of consultation and a Public Local Inquiry. Details of each of these stages is available from the links below.
The Inspector's Report is now available (see below), and is binding on the Council under the Transitional Regulations of the Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. This means that there will be no further modifications to the Alterations.
The Alterations were adopted on 10th July 2006. The Alterations will be available to purchase and download in final form shortly, but whilst this final document is being prepared an interim document has been prepared. This includes the extant parts of the Redeposit, the Pre-Inquiry Changes supported by the Inspector, and the additional amendments made by the Inspector in his Report, and can be downloaded below. This Interim document should be used with the 1998 Adopted Local Plan where appropriate.
Two key policy areas that have not been addressed in these Alterations are those of the Green Belt boundaries and the distribution of housing land. These will be addressed in the future when we publish our first Local Development Framework Documents.
What happens next?
Following the finalisation of the East of England Plan, expected Spring 2007, the Council will commence work on the first documents of the Local Development Framework.
