As well as the Regional Spatial Strategy and the Epping Forest District Local Development Framework, other Planning Documents produced at a County level affect the District.
Essex County Council and Southend on Sea Borough Council (the Joint Structure Plan Authorities) adopted the Essex and Southend on Sea Replacement Structure Plan on 9 April 2001. This is due to be replaced by the East of England Plan when it is finally adopted, under the requirements of the Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
Some policies from the Structure Plan have been saved, details are available on this page.
Essex County Council are responsible for Planning Policy relating to these policy areas, please visit their website for information.
The Lee Valley Regional Park runs through the Western edge of much of the district, and the provisions of the Lee Valley Park Act (1966) means that different considerations apply to the park than to other areas within the Green Belt. The Park also produces its own strategic plan, which can be downloaded from the Lee Valley Park Website
