Essex has a road network of approximately 4,660 miles in length. Essex County Council is responsible for all the roads in Essex, except for the A12, A120 and motorways M11 and M25, which are maintained by the Highways Agency.

You should report the following problems to Essex County Council:

Bus shelter damage
Damage to or other grass verge problems
Damaged or incorrect signs
Drainage problem
Kerb defects
Path or footway defect
Pothole or other road defect
Public Right of Way defect
Road lining or marking defect
Street furniture defect
Street lighting defect
Vegetation problems

You should contact the Highways Agency by telephone on 0300 123 5000 if the problem of enquiry is for the A12, A120 and motorways M11 and M25.
