Measuring and reporting our greenhouse gas emissions

Under the Climate Change Act 2008, the UK must reduce total greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. There is increasing evidence that early and rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are needed to avoid the significant impacts of climate change. Within the UK, business produces a significant proportion of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions and so has a direct influence over the management of these gases.

Measuring greenhouse gas emissions is the first step to effectively managing them. Epping Forest District Council has therefore compiled the following reports, outlining greenhouse gas emissions across council operations.
