This event seeks to equip local suppliers based in Essex and the Eastern region, to more effectively market their goods and do business with companies based at, or in close proximity to, Stansted Airport.
The event will offer plenty of networking opportunities as well as meet the buyers appointments, business seminars and a business exhibition. The seminars will cover funded support available to companies, effective marketing and the ‘aid funded business service’, which looks at how to win business from the international aid and development agencies such as the UN, World Bank, EuropeAid and the Asian Development Bank.
This is a fantastic opportunity for companies to meet with the UN Liaison officers from New York, Geneva, Vienna and Copenhagen.
The International section is just a small part of this event as other UK buyers and exhibitors will be present on the day. For more information on this event and booking facilities, please visit www.meetthebuyersstansted.co.uk or call Debbie Joyce at the Essex Chambers of Commerce on 01206 765277.
BAA Stansted has produced a brief and handy guide for local companies wishing to do business with the airport. The guide outlines the process the airport uses to find suppliers, highlights key contacts and useful websites and details several local companies that already supply to Stansted.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is running a market visit to Oslo in Norway, which companies are invited to take advantage of. This is an ideal opportunity for companies that have never exported and would like some help to explore another market. Companies will also receive help before the visit, in terms of market information reports and there is also financial assistance (for eligible companies). The overall cost is £450, which includes market research, support from commercial officers with an in-depth knowledge of the market and a networking reception hosted by UKTI in Oslo.
Export opportunities exist for many business sectors, in particular clothing, food & drink, ICT, healthcare, financial services and offshore energy and power.

An Economic Impact study has suggested that the East of England might benefit to the tune of £600 million as a result of London hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and that Essex might reap as much as £139 million in reward. Epping Forest District Council recognises that the district is uniquely positioned to seize opportunities presented by the Games and, in partnership with Business Link East, hosted a breakfast event to help ensure that local businesses are best positioned to win contracts.
