Business Link

Business Link is the place to go for information, practical advice whether you are already running a business, looking to grow or just starting out. Its support is independent and impartial, and most Business Link services are provided free of charge. Business Link has a team of advisers who work with customers on a one-to-one basis to analyse their needs and develop a plan of action to help them to achieve their business goals. It also offers a strong range of training events (many of which are free of charge).

VentureNavigator

VentureNavigator is a free and impartial online business support service for start ups, small businesses and entrepreneurs. VentureNavigator enables you to test your business ideas and get tailored feedback, access a library of relevant business resources and get advice from an online community of entrepreneurs and business owners.

Banking on Essex

This scheme was launched by Essex County Council in 2009. It has been introduced to help small businesses that have been operating for more than one year to access loan and overdraft finance. For more information and eligibility criteria see contacts below.

Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme

Launched in early 2009, the Enterprise Finance Guarantee is a guarantee facility for small businesses intended primarily to improve the availability of working capital through term loans and the consolidation of overdrafts. It will also support lending for business growth and development in cases where a sound proposition may otherwise be declined due to a lack of security.

The New Ideas Programme (part of the Essex Innovation Programmes)

This programme offers free high quality specialist business support to budding entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas that they want to develop. The programme looks to particularly support business ideas which involved the application and / or development of scientific know-how, new technology or new approaches to engineering or design.

Developing Innovative Businesses (part of Essex Innovation Programmes)

This programme provides practical support to existing businesses wishing to develop innovative new products or services. Similar to the above, the programme looks to particularly support businesses which involve the application and / or development of scientific know-how, new technology or new approaches to engineering or design.

Grant for Business Investment

Essex Manufacturing Innovation and Growth (part of Essex Innovation Programmes)

This Programme aims to help existing small and medium-size manufacturing firms to develop and grow their businesses.

Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) East

East of England Manufacturing Advisory Service provides manufacturing businesses with expert advice through hands-on support, training and events.

Essex Libraries Business Information Service

This service provides wide ranging information enabling research and analysis of markets, competitors, products and suppliers. Full market research and marketing databases are available.

East of England International (EEI)

EEI is the international business support organisation for the East of England. EEI works with companies in the region that are seeking to grow their businesses through export of services or products. It also assists overseas-owned companies looking to set up in the region and overseas-owned companies that are already here.
