Lucien Pissarro was born in 1863 in Paris and was eldest son of the French impressionist painter Camille Pissarro. In 1890 he moved to London and married Esther Benusan in 1892. Lucien died in London in 1944.
Career
Lucien started his career as a landscape designer as his father's teaching enabled him to do so. In 1892 and became a member of the Camden Town Painters, forging an important link between the French Impressionists and early 20th century British painters. He founded the Eragny Press in England in 1894. At this time he abandoned pointillisme and concentrated on engraving, but he returned to landscape painting from time to time. Throughout his career he played a part in the 8th Impressionist exhibition, where he entered 10 paintings and graphic work, was one of the first to participate in the Neo-Impressionist movement and this allowed him to become one of the most accomplished artists in history.
Relationship with Epping
Although he was born in Paris, he at one time lived in Hemnall Street and therefore is strongly related to the Epping Forest District.
