Epping Forest District Museum
The museum tells the story of the people who have lived and worked in this part of south Essex from the earliest inhabitants to the present. Housed in a building dating back to 1520, the Museum offers something for all the family, with plenty of gallery trails and hands on activities for children.
If the weathers fine why not take a stroll in the Museum Garden.
Access
There is good public parking close by. Wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor gallery area. The Museum contains a disabled access toilet and baby changing area.
Permanent Exhibitions
The ground floor galleries show some of the key archaeological finds from around the district and provide an introduction to our villages and towns. Highlights of these galleries include the stunning Renaissance period decorated wooden panels from the Abbey and the Waltham Abbey Bible, a reminder of the splendours of the great medieval religious house (check with the Museum for availability).
The 1st floor gallery houses material from the Victorian Age, with a focus on schools, agriculture, transport and domestic life.
Changing Exhibitions
