Description

This exhibition is the culmination of a county-wide project exploring the inspirational stories of Essex women who contributed to a century of change. It celebrates some of the big anniversaries in women’s rights from 2018 including, 100 years of some British women being given the chance to vote; 90 years of the Equal Franchise Act, 1928 which allowed women the same voting rights as men and, 50 years since a major strike at the Ford factory in Dagenham in 1968 forced change to women’s working rights.

Description

Housed in a Grade II* listed Tudor building in Waltham Abbey, the museum tells the story of the district through its collections and displays. The newly redeveloped museum features six galleries, the opportunity to see behind the scenes, a lift making the entire building accessible and lovely new community space for all to use.
