Epping Forest District Council is committed to, and working towards the provision of full equality of opportunity. All employees are expected to contribute to the achievement of this objective and the Council will ensure that individuals are aware of their personal and professional responsibility to support the Equal Opportunities Policy.
The purpose of the Council's Policy is to promote equal treatment for all employees or job applicants without reference to age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origins), sexual orientation, religion or belief, or because someone is married in a civil partnership. These are referred to the in the Act as protected characteristics.
Epping Forest District Council will seek to identify and act upon any unfair or unlawful discrimination, which denies individual opportunity on any of the grounds outlined above. Employees and job applicants will have the right and opportunity to complain about unfair discrimination via the appropriate procedures.
