Part-time Maternity Cover 22 hours (Fixed term: March 2019 – February 2020)

Salary: £28,221 – £31,401 pro rata per annum plus Inner Fringe Allowance £857pro rata per annum

The role
Epping Forest District Council’s Museum, Heritage and Culture Service have an opportunity for an experienced projects officer to join its dynamic and successful team, in a maternity cover role.

The Cultural Projects Officer is part of the Museums Heritage & Culture team responsible for the co-ordination and operational management of the cultural delivery programme across two museums; Epping Forest District Museum in Waltham Abbey and Lowewood Museum in Hoddesdon. This post has a specific focus on five areas of work during the estimated one-year period; lead on the young person’s summer programme; progress the planning and implementation of acquiring an autism-friendly museum status; enhance audience development initiatives through the establishment and running of user focus groups; manage EFDC bursaries and awards associated with culture and the arts; develop submissions for project funds from internal and external sources.

The person
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and effective projects officer, with a proven track record of managing successful programmes and events in the culture sector. They will also be highly motivated with the aptitude to work independently demonstrating the ability to maintain excellent working relationships at all levels and be able to deputise for the Museums Heritage & Culture Assistant Manager (Cultural Programme and Audience Development) whilst contributing to the day to day running of the service.

The scope of the service
Epping Forest District Council’s combined Museums, Heritage and Culture Service is based at Epping Forest District Museum in Waltham Abbey and provides management services both at this museum and at Lowewood museum in Hoddesdon on behalf of Broxbourne Borough Council, as well as delivering a range of services out in communities across both local authority areas. The service is the result of a merger in 2016 of the council’s arts and museums teams.

Epping Forest District Museum has been extended and fully refurbished via a HLF funded project, providing a contemporary base for an integrated team of museum and arts specialists and in turn an excellent small museum experience and community hub. The aspirational team finds the capacity to develop both ‘in house’ and ‘outreach’ provision to the Epping Forest district and beyond.

The post holder is required to have a clean driving license and use of a car.
