Redwings Ada Cole Rescue Centre
Saturday 12 July 2008, 11am - 2pm (approx)

Representatives from the centre, based in Nazeing will be at the museum to talk about their work with horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.  You can also make a hobby horse to ride home!
Part of the Perfect Pets exhibition.
Free of charge. No need to book, just drop in during the day.

Whittingham Retired Greyhounds
Saturday 19 July and 23 August 2008, 11am - 2pm (approx)

Find out all about the work of caring for and rehoming ex racing greyhounds, and you will be able to meet a couple of retired greyhounds at the museum too!  If a greyhound is too big for your home, you can make your own kitchen roll sausage dog to lead home!

Zoolab: Exotic Animals
Saturday 26 July 2008, 12 - 1pm and 2.30 - 3.30pm

Have you ever fancied keeping a hissing coachroach as pet?  No?  Well how about a Giant African Land Snail or a Chilean Rose Tarantula?  Perhaps you might just prefer a cuddly gerbil instead!  Zoolab bring a selection of exotic animals to the museum, so you can see and find out all you wanted to know and more about these incredible creatures.
N.B IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THIS EVENT WILL BE VERY POPULAR AND IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO RESTRICT NUMBERS IN THE GALLERIES

Family Fun Day
Saturday 2 August 2008, 11am - 4pm

The museum's popular family fun day returns to Waltham Abbey.  There's an Ancient Greece theme this year, with puppet shows during the day and Greek headdresses, as well as sandcastles and pond dipping in the garden if you want to imagine you are relaxing on a modern Greek beach!

Chigwell Riding Trust for Special Needs
Saturday 9 August 2008, 11am - 2pm (approx)

The Chigwell Riding Trust was the first centre in the world built specially to teach those with special needs to ride horses.  Find out all about their fascinating work and how you could get involved as a volunteer.

Chestnut Cat Sanctuary
Saturday 16 August 2008, 11am - 2pm (approx)

The Chestnut Cat Sanctuary, based near Epping will be at the museum to talk about their work rescuing and rehoming kittens from around the district.  You can make a mouse to take home, perhaps as a toy for your own cat if you have one!

Summer Sundays
Sunday afternoons from 4 May - 28 September 2008, 2.30pm - 4pm

Every Sunday afternoon free drop in art and craft activities are available.  This year the theme is animals and pets through history, from dinosaurs to Roman bling fish!
