Some of the gems in the collection are on permanent display in the Museum’s archaeology gallery. They range from prehistoric stone tools through Iron Age finds from Ambresbury Banks and Loughton Camp, Roman artefacts from Little London (Chigwell), to Saxon, Viking and medieval artefacts.
Star items include: the Waltham Abbey Bible, the nationally important finds from excavations at Waltham Abbey Church,
the Nazeing hoard of Anglo-Saxon metalwork and a hoard of
gold coins found in Abridge.
