Theatre Resource

Theatre Resource is the largest professional arts organisation based in Epping Forest. Theatre Resource runs a range of arts activities focussing particularly on disabled people and other disadvantaged groups. It also manages the district's only full-time arts centre.

The arts centre, based at the former Great Stony School in Chipping Ongar, runs a year-round programme of arts activities and education classes run by Theatre Resource and other community education partners. It is also the venue for a number of theatre performances and concerts. The well equipped centre has a large central hall, a range of meeting and training rooms, an art studio, pottery room and IT workshop.

The centre is also the base for Theatre Resource's work, aimed at people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities, and young people, including those with experience of social care or probation services etc. - all people who for one reason or another get fewest opportunities to benefit from what the arts have to offer. Theatre Resource is funded by Arts Council England, Essex County Council and Epping Forest District Council and runs outreach work in a variety of venues across Essex and Hertfordshire, as well as projects at the arts centre in Chipping Ongar. Theatre Resource is also funded to work regionally and nationally, developing opportunities for disabled people to take part in the arts and training other arts organisations and agencies.
