Information on the Community Development Team's works in the District.

The Community Development Team supports networking and partnership building and a large part of our work is delivered in conjunction with local partners including Essex County Council, the health service, Essex Police, Epping Forest College and local schools. Our aim is to ensure access and choice for all groups and individuals within the community that is long term and sustainable.
The Team organises many different community schemes and events to help make Epping Forest a more enjoyable and friendly place to live, e.g. Holiday Playschemes, youth projects and learning in the community.

The aim of Green Team is to conserve and enhance the local countryside. The best and most enjoyable way to do this is through hands on practical conservation work. Practical conservation means getting your hands dirty! Building bridges, cutting down trees, planting trees and pond dipping are just a few of the practical activities you may like to get involved in.

Community Development staff have been working closely with residents living on the Ninefields Estate in Waltham Abbey since 2008. A group of active residents have been supported to form a constituted group and now meet regularly to address issues of particular interest, or concern, to the community.
The Ninefields Residents Panel represents a united voice for the Ninefields community. Resident Panel meetings are regularly attended by representatives from Waltham Abbey Town Council, Essex Police and the District Council. Annual “walkabouts” are organised by the group in order to raise awareness of, and resolve, estate issues. The group is keen to build on the great Ninefields community spirit and aims to fundraise and organise regular community events such as the recent Story Telling theatre performance in the Ninefields Community Centre.
For further information about the Ninefields Residents Panel please call Gemma on 01992 564556.

The aim of the programme is to provide individuals with the opportunity to increase their skills and, ultimately, gain sustained employment.
Courses include; Introduction to Computers, First Aid, Cookery, Food Safety to name but a few.

The Community Development Team manages the ‘Stay & Play’ Parent and Toddler group at Norway House. The group provides a place for children to run around, have fun and make friends. Activities include role play, messy play, free play, sing along and story time. At the end of each session snack time brings families together. Parents see this session as a light relief away from their room and a chance to have a cuppa, play with their children and socialise with other families.
A Stay and Play Leader and 2 volunteers run the sessions.
Stay and Play gained the Good Practice Certificate for Parent and Toddler Groups in 2008.
Stay and Play is always grateful for any toy donations.
The Partnership welcomes new members. For more information please call Jon Hunt on 01992 564490.
