FANS Scheme

Published on 5 December 2006

On Sunday 3 December 2006, Epping Forest District Council launched the Free Access to National Sportspeople Scheme (FANS) at Ongar Leisure Centre.

The Free Access to National Sportspeople Scheme helps to support local athletes who are performing at an elite level in their chosen sport. By signing up to the scheme, residents of Epping Forest can gain free access to the five Council-owned Leisure Centres throughout the district to help them in their training programme.

Duncan Jefford, SLM Regional Manager; Lauren Smith, National Swimmer; Councillor Ann Haigh, Chairman of Council; Lee Perry, National Badminton Player; Front Row, Emma Hollis, National Swimmer

To qualify, athletes must be ranked top ten nationally within their chosen sports and a resident in the district of Epping Forest or a fully paid member of an Epping Forest-based sports club. They must also be in an Institute of Sport priority sport.
