Sports Awards

The new Arts and Sports Awards Programme replaces the previous Leisure Bursary and Individual Grant Aid schemes. The awards, ranging from £500 to £1,500, are for young people in the district who are able to demonstrate an outstanding talent in their sport or arts activity.

For local sports people this could include competing for Essex, East Region or at national level in their chosen nationally recognised sport.

The aim of the awards programme is to recognise local talent and to assist young people to further develop their ability in their chosen field. This could be by providing funding support towards specialist equipment, competition and event fees, travel and accommodation costs, and extra tuition or higher level coaching fees.

To be eligible for an award, applicants must be aged between 13 to 25 years old, and living in the district (or if at college or university, then returning home to the Epping Forest District during the holidays). The closing date for applications is Thursday 1 December 2011.
