If you have a complaint or are concerned about the conduct of either a District Councillor or a Town or Parish Councillor within the Epping Forest District, information on the complaints procedure can be found below.
From 8 May 2008 the responsibility for considering complaints that a member may have breached the Code of Conduct moved to the Standards Committees of local authorities from the Standards Board for England.
You must submit your complaint in writing setting out how you believe the Councillor concerned has breached the Code of Conduct. In most circumstances, the member involved will be advised of the complaint.
The assessment sub-committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a member. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the members’ Code of Conduct. If you make a complaint to the assessment sub-committee it must be about why you think a member has not followed the Code of Conduct.
If you would like more help with this process.
Prior to 8 May 2008, the Standards Board for England was responsible for carrying out this function. Visit the Standards Board for England's website at www.standardsboard.gov.uk for further information.
