Performance measurement can help organisations improve performance by identifying good practice and learning from others. The following performance indicators provide and overall view of the Council’s performance for 2006/2007.
The Council is required by law to report on a set of national performance indicators and standards set by Government. Such statutory indicators reflect the broad range of local services provided, and are intended to provide a rounded view of performance.
Locally selected or voluntary performance indicators are important as a means of monitoring local performance and responsiveness in meeting local objectives. They enable the Council to tailor its performance management framework to better suit local circumstances, and provide managers with better information.
