Cameras hit the Road for first Council Outside Webcast

The video cameras of Epping Forest District Council went on the road for the first time on Wednesday 6 December 2006 when the meeting of Planning Sub-Committee A was webcast from Roding Valley High School in Loughton.

The special mobile video unit was set up by a team of Council Officers led by Senior Democratic Services Officer Simon Hill. Assisted by PR Officer Steve Mitchell (picture at the controls of the webcasting equipment), the meeting was recorded for subsequent upload to the Epping Forest District Council Website.

Unlike meetings at the Civic Offices that can be viewed live, remote webcasts are dependent on high quality Internet connections. Plans Sub A was therefore recorded onto DVD and uploaded to the Council Website early the following morning. The Council hopes to go one better with live remote webcasts in the New Year.
