Loughton Methodist Church hosted the Epping Forest District Council Civic Christmas Service on Friday 7 December 2007. Worshippers were welcomed with a performance by the LMC Singers, and there were readings given by Reverend Tony Morling, Councillor Stephen Murray, Councillor Caroline Pond, and a carol was introduced by County Councillor Chris Pond.
The congregation was treated to a selection of Christmas carols sung beautifully by the Alderton Junior School Choir, and the LMC Singers and were shown a moving video from the Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal, the first Christmas Service multimedia presentation. The Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal is the world's largest children's Christmas project. Its aim is to send out half a million gift-filled shoe boxes from the UK to children in desperate situations around the world.

The service raised over £430 which will be shared between Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box appeal and the Chairman's Charity for 2007/2008, the League of Friends of St Margaret's Hospital.
