On Tuesday 17 June 2008 Chigwell Golf Club played host to the Chairman of Epping Forest District Council, Councillor John Knapman and Members and Officers from the Council for a Charity Golf Day which raised £655 to kick start the Chairman’s year.

This year the Chairman’s fundraising efforts are aimed at raising money for St Clare Hospice, Hastingwood which cares for people and their families who are affected by life-threatening incurable diseases and Vitalise Jubilee Lodge, Chigwell which offers a variety of accessible residential respite breaks and other services designed for disabled people and their carers.
Chairman of Council Councillor Knapman said: “This is a great start to my fundraising efforts for my year in office. This day gives a chance for Members and Officers to relax the normal formal working relationships to benefit two very worthy local charities.”
The overall winner of the competition was Wendy Macleod an Officer of the Council who is pictured receiving her prize and the Don Spinks Trophy from Council Vice Chairman Councillor Penny Smith.
