Epping Forest District Council Chairman Councillor Caroline Pond welcomed members and guests to Gaynes Park Barns in Epping for the Epping Forest District Council Civic Awards 2008 on Friday 14 March 2008.
The Civic Awards are a chance for members of the community to recognise the people who give their time and energy on behalf of others, often without thought of favour or reward, or as in the case of the Community Services medal, for conduct above and beyond the call of duty.

The evening was presided over by Toastmaster Robert Pursell.
Guests were treated to a performance by a previous Leisure Bursary winner, Mark Gotham, who played a selection of pieces on the flute. He is currently studying for his Masters degree in composition at the Royal Northern College of Music.

The evening came to a conclusion with the Chairman's charity draw and presentation of prizes. The draw raised £685 with proceeds going to the League of Friends of St Margarets Hospital and Community, the Chairmans chosen charity for the year.
