Civic Awards 2008 - Young Citizen of the Year 2008

The winner of the Young Citizen Award is Daisy Sherriff. The 15 year old from North Weald attends St John’s School in Epping is a member of the Year 11 Senior Executive Team and as Head of Student Listeners, co-ordinates the school’s student support network of Listeners. Student Listeners hold very responsible positions and are formally trained in the role to provide support to their piers over issues such as bullying.

Daisy also gives her time freely to volunteer work outside of school. She participated in Paws 4 Thought, an initiative designed to encourage responsible pet ownership. As a member of the Cinnamon Trust, she supports elderly people by helping to care for their pets. On Voluntary Action Epping Forest’s ‘Make a Difference Day’, she worked in Roughtalleys Wood helping to clear paths for walkers, pushchairs and wheelchairs.
