Peter Trevelyan is the Chairman of the High Ongar Village Hall Management Committee and has worked tirelessly to raise funds to build a new village hall. Derek Tringham is very involved with the community of North Weald via the British Legion, the Bowls Club and the Village Hall Committee, as well as organising and running local clubs and groups. Sam and Ruth Day are both supporters of the Burma star association and of the Royal British Legion. They have collected in all weathers for the poppy appeal for over 50 years.
Chairman of Council Councillor Caroline Pond said: “I was delighted to present these certificates and welcome Peter, Derek, Sam and Ruth to the Civic Offices. They all make such a difference to their communities and work so hard to support their favourite causes. Without people such as them many organisations would struggle to provide their services to people in need. I would also like to add my personal thanks to them for everything that they do.”
