St Clare Hospice is launching its Midnight walk in which an estimated 3,000 women will walk 10k around the cycle and footpaths of Harlow. This event is expected to be the biggest fundraising event St Clare Hospice has ever seen but you must get your applications in by Friday 16 May 2008.
It is hoped that the Hospice will generate a huge £100k from this single event but as Project Manager Melanie Nightingale says: “We can’t do it without the support of our local ladies! The night is going to be very pink and a brilliant laugh for all those taking part. So why not have a great night out with the girls and help raise vital funds for your local Hospice charity.”
This event will appeal to younger women whom are being seen more and more of, as patients. St Clare Hospice needs the financial support of this age group to support the care of their neighbours, friends and family.
The Hospice provides around the clock specialist care for hundreds each year who have life-limiting illnesses such as Cancer. Currently it costs over £1.8m to run this service, a service which is vital to the patients and their families. St Clare Hospice receives 30% funding from the West Essex PCT.
St Clare Hospice has committed to increasing it’s patient services team to be even more proactive in the community with the introduction of an Independent Living Team. The team visits patients in their homes to provide complementary therapies, physio and occupational therapy. The new service is costing the Hospice money which needs to be raised, for the work to continue.
