Join Hobart the dog and Marmalade the cat to find out if dogs rule, cats are cool, or if other pets are perfect. Discover some odd pets, ancient pets, learn all about keeping pets today and the different roles animals can play in our lives in this fascinating and fun exhibition. Waltham Abbey’s own mummified cat will also be on display for the first time in many years.

Waltham Abbey mummified cat close upThere will be lots of events and activities connected with the exhibition to keep the whole family entertained during the summer. On Saturdays, representatives from pet charities working in the district will be on hand to tell you more about their work. Redwings Ada Cole Rescue Centre in Nazeing will be at the Museum on the opening Saturday 12 July 2008 to talk about their work with horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. Future Saturdays will include Chigwell Riding Trust for Special Needs, Chestnut Cat Sanctuary and Whittingham Retired Greyhounds who will also bring along some dogs for you to meet!

On Saturday 26 July 2008, Zoolab will be bringing a selection of exotic creatures including tarantulas and hissing cockroaches. On Tuesday afternoons from 29 July to 26 August 2008 you can have a go at animal craft activities.

Events are free of charge and there is no need to book, although it may be necessary to restrict numbers and time in the gallery for Zoolab.

    All events and activities take place at the Epping Forest District Museum.
