Chairman of Council, Councillor John Knapman presented Good Practice Certificates to the play workers of The Stay & Play Parent and Toddler Group at Norway House Homeless Hostel on on 2 July 2008.

The Stay and Play Group achieved a Good Practice Certificate from the Pre-school Learning Alliance in recognition of the quality of childcare it provides. In order to achieve the award, play workers had to meet excellent standards in elements such as Health & Safety, the quality of activities provided, management, administration and teamwork. The Good Practice Certificate is recognition of the team’s professional, committed and enthusiastic approach.

The Norway House Homeless Hostel provides a warm and welcoming environment for all the families that attend. Fun, creative and challenging activities are available for the little children in a stimulating setting. Parents and carers are able to chat informally together whilst joining in the fun with their children. The play workers Gemma, Mary and Val work tirelessly to provide a wonderful group that fully promotes the outcomes of the “Every Child Matters” agenda.

The Stay and Play Parent and Toddler Group is run in partnership with Community Development at Epping Forest District Council and a local charity SEFFTA (Supporting Epping Forest Families in Temporary Accommodation).

SEFFTA have volunteer and trustee opportunities, for more information please call Gemma on 01992 564556.
