Epping Forest District Museum is offering visitors a second chance to see its innovative ‘Tales from the Boarders’ exhibition, which was developed in partnership with Ongar based Theatre Resource.
The exhibition tells the story of Great Stony School in Ongar, which originally opened as the residential Hackney Home in 1904.
After the Second World War it became the Great Stony School, a residential facility for children with learning disabilities, until its closure in 1994. The building now houses Theatre Resource, an arts organisation specialising in working with disabled people and other socially excluded groups.

The exhibition captures the memories and experiences of past students and staff using interactive visual art, photographs, oral history and sound. Three artists, Anne Teahan, Jon Owen and Damien Robinson were commissioned to create works responding to the stories which form the heart of the exhibition.
The exhibition is funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund and Renaissance East of England.
The exhibition runs until Tuesday 9 December 2008 at the Epping Forest District Museum, 39/41 Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, Essex EN9 1EL. Entry to the Museum is free and it is open on Monday 2pm to 5pm, Tuesday 12noon to 5pm, Friday 2pm to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm.
