Christmas Carol Service

The local Parish Church of Epping Forest District Council Chairman, Councillor Penny Smith, hosted the annual Epping Forest District Council Civic Carol Service on Friday 11 December 2009.

Mrs Smith welcomed councillors past and present to join with parishioners for the candlelit service of traditional carols at All Saints in Epping Upland.

Lessons were read by former Council Chairmen Joan Davis, Stephen Barnes, Kay Ellis, Ron Heath and John Padfield.

Deputy Lieutenant of Essex Michael Chapman, Church Warden Colin Tankard and Councillor Smith also read during the service conducted by Reverend Bryony Morrison.

The 13th Century Church of All Saints formed a beautiful backdrop to the service. Money raised through the offertory collection will be divided equally between All Saints and the Chairman’s Charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.
