Beware Latest Cold Callers Scam

Epping Forest Safer Communities Partnership is advising residents across the district to be aware of the latest cold calling scam and not volunteer any personal details or part with any money.

Recently a fire and security company, claiming to be linked to Crime Stoppers and The Home Office, has been cold calling people - usually elderly residents.

They offer a free alarm fitting service and once they have done this try to tie the client into a contract often leading to them parting with thousands of pounds.

All residents should be mindful never to agree to any security survey or installation from a cold caller, either on the telephone or at the door.
