Local young people aged between 13 to 25 have just 2 weeks to apply for a leisure sports and arts award as the deadline for applications is 1 December 2010.
Awards ranging from £500 to £1,500 are available to young people in the Epping Forest district who are able to demonstrate an outstanding talent in their sport or arts activity.
The new awards programme aims to recognise local talent and help young people to develop their ability in their chosen field by providing funding support for specialist equipment, competition fees, travel and accommodation costs, extra tuition or higher level coaching fees.
For young artists this talent could include reaching Grade VIII in classical music or jazz, or pursuing drama, art, contemporary music at a higher educational level, or receiving public or professional recognition of their work.
For sports people this could include competing for Essex, East Region or at national level in their chosen nationally recognised sport.
The deadline for applications is 1 December 2010. Applicants must be aged between 13 to 25 and living in the district, or if they are at college or university, returning home to Epping Forest district during the holidays. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview in January 2011.
The new Leisure Sports and Arts Award Programme replaces the previous Leisure Bursary and Individual Grant Aid schemes.
