Businesses in Epping Forest are being encouraged to book to attend a special Business Breakfast Briefing on business rates being held on Tuesday 23 March 2010.
Essex Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) spokesman for Epping Forest, Tina Dulieu, said: “This special Business Breakfast Briefing is being sponsored by Epping Forest District Council and Business Link East because of concerns that may arise as a result of the new revaluation which comes into effect on 01 April 2010.
“The aim of the event is to inform businesses how the new values are calculated so they can check their rateable value is right; how they can appeal against the value and also how to claim any relief available such as Small Business Rate Relief.
“This is an excellent initiative and one we hope will help businesses make sure they are paying the right level of business rates.”
Epping Forest Business Champion Councillor Chris Whitbread, said: “Epping Forest District Council is determined to give as much support as possible to our businesses and this Breakfast Briefing is part of that programme.
“Thanks to the partnership with Business Link East, Essex FSB, Epping Forest Chamber of Commerce and Waltham Abbey Town Partnership we already have more than 50 businesses booked in to attend this event and more are welcome as we want as many firms as possible to benefit from the advice which will be on offer."
The FSB represents more than 213,000 business people across the United Kingdom and is the largest single organisation representing business interests in the country.
The Essex Region of the FSB represents small businesses in the areas covered by Essex County Council and the London Boroughs of Havering and Redbridge.
